CHICAGO RIDGE – State Senator Bill Cunningham announced that Chicago Ridge Public Library will receive a $26,000 grant to support library services.

“Libraries are community hubs that serve as a one-stop location for various services,” said Cunningham, a Democrat who represents portions of Chicago and the Southwest Suburbs. “This grant will help support and expand access to the various programs and services that Chicago Ridge Public Library offers.”

The grant coming to Chicago Ridge Public Library was awarded by the Illinois Secretary of State, using combined state funds and federal Library Services and Technology Act funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The awards total nearly $22 million for library services and $6 million for literacy programs throughout the state.

The grants for library services include funding to enhance online catalogues, support day-to-day operations, expand interlibrary loan programs and equip vision-impaired individuals with narrations of newspaper content.

“I commend our state’s dedication to investing in our libraries that provide our communities with such essential resources,” said Cunningham. “This grant will allow our library to become more accessible to members of the community and to continue promoting literacy and learning for all ages.”
